The most practical skill you'll get out of it is learning just about every shortcut that exists, and that actually does make a huge difference if you can remember and utilize them speed is a huge deal in the business. And you WILL learn a ton about Pro Tools, probably more than you'll ever need to know. Having said that, however, it definitely doesn't hurt, and if you were planning on trying out for internships it will most definitely help.
